The Salter School of Nursing & Allied Health
The Salter School of Nursing & Allied Health formally is a NH licensed, post-secondary vocational school with a primary purpose of training individuals for employment in health care. The Career Education courses being offered are designed to provide participants with knowledge and skills that will foster employment success on a career ladder.
The Salter School of Nursing & Allied Health is dedicated to the provision and promotion of quality, career-oriented educational opportunities for Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Laboratory Personnel, through classroom presentations, hands-on laboratory experience and applicable on-the-job training in externship opportunities.
PROGRAMS
Practical Nursing
The Practical Nursing Program is consistent with the school's educational mission that focuses on the provision and promotion of quality, career-oriented programs provided through classroom presentation, hands-on lab experiences, and clinical training and practice in community, ambulatory care, and hospital and Long Term Care settings.
This all inclusive program will provide practical nursing students the necessary learning experiences to prepare her/him to practice care giving within the scope and standard of care directed by the regulatory/licensing body (BON) and the employing agency.
Licensed Nursing Assistant
This 145 hour program provides the information and skills to enable nursing assistants to provide quality care in a variety of settings: Skilled Nursing/ Long term care, Home Care, Rehabilitation and Acute Care Hospitals. BLS, Adult, Infant and Child, AED training are included.
Phlebotomy
Phlebotomy is an essential diagnostic tool for managing patient care. Phlebotomists perform an important and integral role in the healthcare field in both the In-patient and Out-patient environments. Accuracy and competency are the key components to a successful career in phlebotomy. This program is consistent with the school’s educational mission that focuses on the provision and promotion of quality, career oriented programs, provided through classroom presentation, hands-on laboratory experience and clinical practice.
Surgical Technology
This program is designed to prepare the student with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to gain employment as a surgical technician. Students will study all aspects within the field of preoperative services, including medical law and ethics, preoperative environments, pharmacology, sterilization, anatomy and physiology, sterile technique OSHA regulations, anesthesia, instrumentation, communication skills, medical terminology, and procedures within the medical specialties.
Patient Care Technician
The Patient Care Technician Program is a six hundred and three hour comprehensive program providing learning experiences which encompass the scope of practice of the Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomist and Electro cardiographer. These experiences occur in the academic setting of Salter School of Nursing & Allied Health classrooms and laboratories, and, in a variety of health care settings within the community.
This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to acquire confidence in direct care giving, successful collection, process and transport of laboratory specimens, and the administration of Electrocardiography techniques.
The institution is accredited by ACICS. The LPN program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
